Developments in March

March 24th, 2011 § 0

I am proud to report that today I installed a search application on the website. You may now put a search term- Pierce, for example- and be rewarded with collections and organizations involving him. This is a large leap forward in our project.

I also changed the main list of organizations to read alphabetically by institution name. If you found it more useful to browse by town name, that is still available too.

We are planning more website changes in the near future. Please check back! As always thank you to everyone who has participated.

Organization list

November 17th, 2010 § 0

I have had a number of folks contact me to suggest collections to add or wondering if they were going to be asked to contribute to our project. To help sort that out, I have put together a list of organizations [pdf] in our database. At this point, everyone for whom we could find email addresses has been invited to take our survey.

If you are on this list and you have not received an invite, please get in touch with us! It means we are looking for a way to get in touch with you or that we sent an email and it did not reach you.

Stay tuned over the next couple weeks as I will return to putting more collections up. There is some terrific stuff in this state!

Collections added today

October 29th, 2010 § 0

I spent this dreary Friday adding the following organizations and their collections to the website.

Calling all NH libraries

September 13th, 2010 § 0

I sent the survey to 320 NH library email addresses on Sunday. I am pleased and proud to report that 18 have already responded. Next week I’ll be working on adding some more collections to the website. Stay tuned!

Website updated

August 30th, 2010 § 0

We released an updated version of the website today. This one features the first batch of participating organizations, along with their collections. There are many more to come, of course, but this may give you an idea of what the goal of the project is. Also new is basic collection browsing, a list of resources for folks interested in similar projects, and some of our grant application materials on our About page.

As you look around, please keep in mind that this is just the earliest iteration of the site. We are working on a way to combine browsing terms for more nuanced research, a search for collections, and commenting on collections as well as many other smaller tweaks. If you have an idea of how to make this more useful, please leave a comment below.

NHAIS blog appearance

August 25th, 2010 § 0

Our humble project, officially titled Connecting to Collections was mentioned on the NHAIS blog last week. We’ll be sending survey invites out to NH libraries any day now – please answer the call!
